On Oct. 31, St. Agnes’s cross country team placed second at the TAPPS state meet in Waco, Texas. There was challenging competition as well as difficult obstacles. It was extremely wet and muddy which caused three shoes to be pulled off even though they were duct taped on. It was also extremely slippery and there were cacti and fire ants.
In cross country, it is a team’s goal to get the lowest amount of points possible. St. Agnes got a total of 83 points. Antonian got 84 points and Awty International got 85 points. Maryella Cohn, a junior, placed highest for St. Agnes, which was ninth place.
Coach Kristi Robbins said, “They never gave up sacrificing every ounce of energy they had for each other, their team and their school.”
Congrats to St. Agnes on doing an amazing job! All the hard work paid off and their season is not over yet. They will be running in the NIKE Regional Meet in the Woodlands on Nov. 21.
