Happy Friday! Here are a few events to look forward to this weekend.

Hot Nights on Ice

The highs may be in the 70s but you can enjoy a feeling of winter at The Ice on Discovery Green, which is still open through early February. Friday night, head to The Ice for “Hot Nights on Ice,” where you can mix, mingle and skate to pop music. Free cover. See more details.

Auditions for ‘The Voice’

If you’re a talented singer hoping to catch a big break, and over age 15, consider trying out for the popular NBC show, “The Voice.” Open call auditions take place at Minute Maid Park this Saturday. See the details plus all of the eligibility requirements.

Texans vs. Chiefs, AFC Wild Card

It’s playoff time in Houston! Root for the Houston Texans as they play against the Kansas City Chiefs this Saturday, 3:35 p.m., NRG Stadium. Buy tickets here or watch on ESPN.

Zoo Lights

Zoo Lights continues through this Saturday, Jan. 9. If you haven’t gotten a chance to visit the Houston Zoo during this magical time, be sure to go this weekend. The Zoo has also added Sun., Jan. 10 as a special members-only night, 6-9 p.m.

Galveston Restaurant Week

Head to Galveston for some fine island dining during Galveston Restaurant Week, which begins this Sat., Jan. 9 through Sat., Jan. 23. Enjoy prix-fixe lunch and/or dinner menus in price points of $10, $15, $20, $25, $30, $35 and $40 depending on the restaurant. See more details and check out our guide to Galveston.

The SALE

Shop for a great cause at The SALE, a two-day shopping experience, Jan. 9-10 at the Bayou City Event Center. Shop Houston’s premier boutiques at one location. The SALE supports The University of Texas MD Anderson Children’s Cancer Hospital. Note: There’s a special preview event, Bites and Bubbles, Saturday morning; the doors open to the general public at 12 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. See more details.
