Science pays for Girl Scouts
Nina Zhang, Sophia Hernandez, Sejal Thakur and Nicole Mao (pictured, from left, with the Houston Museum of Natural Science’s Kelsey Friedemann, at far left), all in sixth grade at various schools, from Girl Scout Troop 21276, took home first prize at the Girls Exploring Math & Science Fair. The troop’s booth, called “GMOs: The New Revolution of Food” earned them $1,000. There were 11 competing booths hosted by Girl Scouts. The fair is a collaboration between the Houston Museum of Natural Science and the Girls Scouts of San Jacinto Council. Each year families are invited to attend the event and learn more about science, technology, engineering and math.
