Living legacies
The Southwell family gathered at the American Heroes: Portraits of Service exhibit opening at Belmont Village Senior Living Hunters Creek to honor Bob Southwell for his service during the Korean War. Pictured (from left) are Campbell Southwell (grandson), Ian Southwell (grandson), Barbara Southwell (wife), Bob Southwell (sitting), Brian Southwell (son), Justin Treat (grandson), Kelley Southwell (daughter-in-law) and Brent Southwell (son). Not pictured are daughter Karla Havlina, her husband Glenn (who live in Pensacola) and granddaughter Nicole Southwell. Belmont Village commissioned photographer Thomas Sanders to photograph the 11 resident veterans who live at Belmont Village. Each veteran is pictured with personal memorabilia from war experiences. The portraits are now part of a permanent, public exhibit. At the unveiling, City of Hunters Creek Mayor David Wegner, the NJROTC program at Spring Branch ISD’s The Guthrie Center color guard and other community members gathered to honor the veterans.
