We all know that Houston takes rodeo season – the competitions, the entertainment, the food and more – very seriously. At Yorkshire Academy, the students and teachers start planning for the School Art Contest at the beginning of every year. Once again, the hard work paid off this rodeo season.

Fourth grade student Liberty Lang’s piece “Midnight Rangers,” which depicts pronghorns, was awarded with Best of Show and Reserve Grand Champion. The committee only makes two grand champion awards for all of the elementary school, so this is a big honor. At the award ceremony, she was awarded with a scholarship to the Glassell School of Art workshop at the Museum of Fine Arts and also received a trophy.

Over the last three years, students from Yorkshire Academy have been awarded with Gold Medals, first place, second place, finalist ribbons and best of show. Yorkshire students – and all of Houston – are already looking forward to next rodeo season.
