The City of West University Place was honored with the Texas Recreation and Park Society's Gold Medal Award for Excellence. State Rep. Sarah Davis presented a resolution to City Council in recognition of the award. The criteria for the award includes excellence in management, facilities, master planning, programming, operations and maintenance. The most significant acknowledgement was that West University Place had effectively re-built or renovated all of its parks and recreational facilities within a matter of a decade, setting it far apart from the competition.
