Hard-working troop
Girl Scout Troop 20123 (pictured, at a camping trip), a fifth-grade troop that combines girls from five different schools – The Kinkaid School, River Oaks Baptist School, T.H. Rogers, Briargrove Elementary and Herod Elementary, earned their Bronze Award by creating read-along, sign-language books for the younger, hearing-impaired kids at T.H. Rogers. They published them on YouTube, which also gives other hearing-impaired kids access to the books. They learned about video production, how to sign the books and how to video each component – the reading and the signing. To celebrate this achievement, the girls will host a Mother-Daughter Social for the moms of the girls in the troop so they can see their girls receive their Bronze award and also view their videos. Bonus is that by hosting a social, the girls will also earn their Social Butterfly Badge.
