Seniors Morgan Duffey and Lexi Reichstein use helpful tips like those from Reagan when staying organized throughout the school year.
As we get back into the swing of things after an almost three-month-long summer break, students all over Houston and the country get ready for a new school year with many expectations. As an incoming senior this year, I have had much practice preparing for the long awaited “first day.”
At Emery/Weiner, before the first day, you go to the back-to-school bash, which fellow school buzz writer, Benjamin Cohen, wrote about here. At the back-to-school bash, you organize your lockers, see old friends and reminisce about your summer experiences. As you arrive to school on the first day, here are some helpful tips to a successful academic year:
Always set up your backpack with the needed school supplies and binders before heading to class on the first day
Ever forget turning in assignments electronically on time? iPhone users can use their reminder app to be reminded at a specific time, so they will never forget to turn in an essay electronically late again
“Make an effort to become close with your teachers in case you need their help in the future, they can have a huge impact on your academic career” said junior Abby Cohan
If you ever want to try something different for breakfast, Pinterest and other online websites have many easy morning school recipes for the busy student.
Before heading back to school, pick up your favorite gum to stick in your backpack for easy accessibility.
“Set your alarm for 15 minutes ahead from when you actually want to get up, so you have extra time to wake up after the alarm goes off,” said senior Alexa Spolane
Although school might not always be as expected, it definitely comes with a lot of anticipation and excitement. So get excited for the 2016-17 school year!
