A day of service
About 350 parents, children and community members gathered at Briargrove Elementary to celebrate the Green Apple Day of Service. The day of service is a nationwide event where the community gathers to improve school environments through service projects, education and more. This is the fourth year that Briargrove has participated, and the local event has grown from just 40 participants the first year. Projects included harvesting the edible gardens, mulching and pruning, and tending to the school’s Kinder-Garden. Pictured (above, from left) are Lindsey Mikael and Lauren Talley, metro market managers from event sponsor Whole Foods, PTO sustainability chair Jennifer Gerry, Briargrove first grader Catherine Clampitt and The Oaks at Briargrove Preschool pre-kindergartener Marion Gerry.
