Candice Faure Anderson and Suzie Wilson hosted an event, What’s at Stake, at Candice’s Memorial home. Cindy Johetz, Cathy Jodeit and Kristy Liedtkey were in the mix of 40 women who listened intently to firsthand stories about immigration from 10 diverse people. Of the speakers, Maria Espinosa spoke of her visit to a south Texas ranch on the border where her hosts said thousands are coming across from other countries outside of Mexico, many armed with automatic weapons. While many families are granted an instant welcome, Tina Nguyen, a young Vietnamese mother, told how her family waited for 10 years for their sponsorship to be accepted. Although wine and cheese was served, there was other food for thought.
