Take a hike!
When Galleria-area resident Lana Armstrong moved from Spring, she kept up close ties with a neighbor of 18 years, Megan Franks. They go on an annual camping trip that has evolved to a 50-plus camp outside Lake Tahoe called Echo Lake Camp. Lana, Megan and seven friends got back to nature with no electricity and a tarp for sleeping quarters; their sleeping bags were on top of air mattresses. The gals layered with long johns and used flashlights to find the bathrooms and showers about 50 feet away. College students served their meals in a dining hall, and they did work up an appetite. They accumulated 26 miles in their three hikes and kayaked Echo Lake. The shades of blue at Emerald Bay along Lake Tahoe were worth the hike.
