Every year, I have the same resolutions: Lose 10 pounds and get more organized. Maybe this month’s issue – with stories on healthy meals, women triathletes and workout playlists – will help. (Plus, I love Jennifer Oakley’s inspiring Wishing Trees story.) Also this month, Travel Buzz writer Tracy Barnett shares passport tips and mishaps. I read the first draft of Tracy’s article the night before leaving for Playa del Carmen on an annual girls’ trip. I learned that a Buzz resident had to redo his passport because he was wearing glasses in the photo. Apparently, that’s a no-no now. I realized I was wearing glasses in my passport photo! I held my breath until stepping onto the flight. (As it turns out, existing passports with eyeglasses are grandfathered in.) Déjà vu. Last year, a few days before leaving for the same trip, I learned your passport cannot expire within six months of traveling. Luckily I was able to rush and get a new passport in time. (Mexico no longer enforces this rule.) A new resolution is to plan ahead and get a new passport photo without my glasses. Right after I lose 10 pounds and organize my desk. Wishing you a happy and resolute new year. [email protected]
