A magical event
Nearly 600 families and children walked into an “enchanted forest” at the 8th annual Family Fun Day, hosted by Ambassadors for Texas Children’s Hospital. The event was held at the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center and chaired by Missy and Wayne Herndon, with their children Steele, Will and Magnus, and Nicole and Will Murphy, with their children Madelyn and Billy. Guests were greeted by stilt-walking fairies, a medieval king and queen, a magician and a mystical dragon. There were crafts, games, a petting zoo, rock-climbing wall and pony rides. Attendees donated Legos, crayons, Hot Wheels cars, markers and Play-Doh to Texas Children’s Child Life Department, which provides developmental, educational and therapeutic interventions for children undergoing medical treatment. Attending were Katie and Ryan Cooper (with daughters Caroline and Natalie), Kafka family (parents Kristie and Kyle with kids Michael, Karoline, Katherine and Kollins), Michael, Teddy and Amy Beeson, Scott and Brooke Hutson (with children Parker and Caroline); Staci and John Donovan (with children Grace, Evelyn and John William); Kathleen and James Jennings (with children Wade, James and Evie); Tracey and Andrew Hull (with children Margaret and Caroline); Jennifer Roberts (with children Blakely and Kipling); and Rachael and Jason Volz (with children Oliver and George).
