A labor of love
Years ago, St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School started a campaign for a legacy wall to memorialize families of the school, parishioners of the church, loved ones and long-tenured staffers. The school’s art teacher, Ann Harris (pictured, at right), along with school parents Katy Antill (left) and Maggie Garza (center), had a vision of the legacy wall that grew. Harris fired over 3,500 handmade tiles for the wall. Also volunteering for the project were the school’s Beta members, the local Girl Scout chapter, women of St. Anne's Society, Saint Agnes school members, SVdP school families, and SVdP church parishioners. The project ended up being 12 feet tall and 35 feet wide and took three years to complete.
