Birdie Wittig

Lamar High student Birdie Wittig, 16, is taking her love of horses to new levels. When she’s not practicing her riding skills, she is reading and watching videos about how to improve. Since fifth grade, she has been in a local United States Pony Club chapter, the Bayou City Pony Club. Birdie is on her way to qualifying for the USPC National Championship Rio Grande Region Eventing team and has qualified for the Rio Grande Region Division II Show Jumping team this year. She hopes to travel to the championship event at the Kentucky Horse Park in July – her qualification is pending completion of another United States Eventing Association-rated horse trial, with a clean cross-country jumping round.
