The 16th annual gala for Virtuosi of Houston – Young Artists Chamber Orchestra set a record with 400 attending and raising almost $400,000 for the program. The event’s honorary chairs were Margaret Alkek Williams (pictured, left) and Monzer Hourani, advisory chairs were Dr. Meherwan and Zarine Boyce, and chairs were Dr. Quang and Staci Henderson and Tony and Donna Vallone. Emcees for the evening were Dominique Sachse and Peter Remington. Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York (at right, with Clive Christian, center) headlined the night. She was a hit throughout the evening, posing for photographs. The live auction included a trip to England with two plane tickets and a four-night stay at the iconic Savoy hotel. The duchess added to the package, volunteering to host a tea and arrange a tour of Buckingham Palace. The trip sold for $45,000.
