Grace Pfeffer (pictured, center), a Second Baptist School graduate and University of Texas student, along with friends Sara Belmer (left) and Savannah Lovelace (right), rode their bicycles from Seattle to San Diego, a total of 1,700 miles, to raise awareness about sex trafficking in America. Through their ride, they raised support for The Refuge ministry, which provides sex-trafficked minors education, counseling, employment training and more. The Refuge is in the process of building a facility in Bastrop, which it says will be the largest in the nation once completed, with plans in the works to develop another facility near Houston. It cited a recent University of Texas study indicating there are now 79,000 sex-trafficked young women in Texas. To date, the girls have raised over $50,000 through donations, all for The Refuge. On the route, they were invited to speak before a Commissioners Court, live blogged a 25- minute video to Channel 4 TV in San Antonio and were featured on TV news in California.
