DNA love

Michelle Rubin, originally from Calgary before she attended the University of St. Thomas, and Tarik Onur, who grew up in California, met at the annual molecular and human genetics retreat of Baylor College of Medicine. After studying together, they “upped their regulator” (gene-expression talk), and he proposed under an oak tree in the Japanese Garden in Hermann Park. They are both completing their PhDs in genetics at Baylor College of Medicine. The small beach wedding is planned for May in Naples, Florida. Parents Lili Rubin, Pinar Onur (Arizona) and Aydin Onur (New Jersey) are happy that the young couple will honor the traditions from both families.
