Houston is filled with lots of buzz this weekend with the Houston Astros playing in the World Series and Halloween right around the corner. See our picks for this weekend:

Halloween is on Tuesday but festivities begin this weekend. Scream on the Green – a costume contest and Halloween party for all ages – will take place at Discovery Green Friday evening starting at 6 p.m. The Slime-Off at the Children’s Museum of Houston takes place this Saturday at 10 a.m. along with other Halloween festivities. West U Halloween Dash and Kids Fun Run
Join the City of West U for a fun 5K Race and 1 mile Kids Fun Run on Saturday starting with the 5K at 8 a.m. and the Kids Fun Run beginning at 8:45. The costume contest begins at 9:15 a.m. and awards ceremony to follow. Proceeds benefit the West University Place Parks and Recreation Department.
Head to Discovery Green on Saturday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m., for a fun taste of Egypt. Enjoy camel rides, belly dancing performances and lessons, musicians, entertainers, Egyptian art, crafts, a costume contest and more. The festival will benefit Crime Stoppers of Houston, St. Jude’s, Soaring Kidz, Houston PetSet & Friends of Egyptian Children with Cancer and Rebuild-TX, the Hurricane Harvey Relief Effort led by Jim Mcingvale, owner of Gallery Furniture.
Browse through CityCentre on Saturday, 12-7 p.m., for ARTumn Fest, which includes artistic vendors, live music, a kids corner and more.
The Jewish Book & Arts Festival
The Jewish Book and Arts Festival kicks off Sat., Oct. 28 and continues through Sun., Nov. 19. The festival includes a variety of opportunities for the community to experience Jewish literary, cultural and performing arts. The festival includes book readings, films, theatre, concerts and Oliver Lapin Family Day. This Saturday, Oliver Lapin Family Day Goes to Levy Park includes book readings all about kindness in a beautiful, fun setting.
