Here at The Buzz, stories and photos are assigned well in advance of the publication date. But we have to be flexible, depending on what’s going on in our neighborhoods. Never has that been truer than with this issue. After Harvey hit, we had to regroup – first, making sure our team was safe and, second, taking another look at the October issue. We talked with residents, writers and advertisers. Everyone checked in with one another and shared Harvey stories – everyone has a Harvey story. We were struck by how interconnected everyone is, especially during the traumatic times, like hurricanes. We’ve been stunned by tales we’ve heard of loss and fear, and also of incredible kindness and generosity. In this issue, you’ll find Buzz residents’ Harvey stories, plus reflections on our city. You’ll also find non-storm related stories, about food, travel and more, and meet our 2017-18 high school correspondents, many of whom shared their Harvey experiences on our School Buzz blog.
