Happy Friday! Here are some fun, festive events to look forward to this weekend:
Day for Night
This music festival features acts by Nine Inch Nails, Thom Yorke, Solange, Justice, St. Vincent, Tyler, The Creator, James Blake and more, plus installations from talented visual artists. The festival takes place Friday-Sunday at the historic Barbara Jordan Post Office.
Christmas Village at Bayou Bend
Christmas Village at Bayou Bend opens this Friday evening (and continues through Jan. 6). Enjoy carolers, a faux-snowball play area, a handcrafted model train, a trail of lights, holiday-themed tours of Ima Hogg’s historic mansion, Christmas decorations and more.
Houston Symphony Presents Handel's Messiah
Conductor Paul Agnew will lead the Houston Symphony Chorus, soloists and orchestra in performances of Handel’s Messiah, Friday-Sunday. Songs will include "Comfort ye, my people!" and "Amen."
Christmas on the Boulevard
The Church of St. John the Divine is hosting Christmas on the Boulevard this Saturday, which includes a Live Nativity and a Christmas Gala Concert featuring the SJD Chorale, Houston Boychoir and River Oaks Chamber Orchestra.
Chanukah at Discovery Green
Celebrate Chanukah at Discovery Green on Sunday with a concert, arts and crafts, face painting, a balloon artist, an ice menorah, Judah the Maccabee, ice skating, gifts and more. Look forward to an Astros-themed ice menorah. The menorah lighting will take place at 5:30 p.m.
Jewish CultureFest
Enjoy musical performances, vendors selling Judaica, Jewish foods and family-friendly activities at Evelyn’s Park on Sunday. The festival will conclude at 6 p.m. with a communal lighting of the menorah.
