Lester and Sue Smith, and Maria and Neil Bush, along with 100 donors, event-committee members and foundation leaders, gathered at the Smith’s home for an evening dedicated to the Barbara Bush Foundation. Attendees joined First Lady Barbara Bush, Neil Bush and Maria Bush and other members of the Bush family for the private holiday reception for the 2018 A Celebration of Reading event, which will be held on April 19 at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. Guests enjoyed libations and hors d’oeuvres prepared by Culinaire while enjoying music by Moodafaruka. Also in the mix were Annette Strake, Melanie Meeks, Danny Ward and Nancy Ames, Dancie Ware, Bill White, Ginger Blanton, Sally and Charles Neblett, Kathryn and Clive Runnels, Julie Baker Finck, and Shayna and Kiki Andrews.
