Brothers triple the double bass
The 29th annual Immanuel and Helen Olshan Texas Music Festival international music residency is coming up this month, June 5-July 1, at the University of Houston Moores School of Music. One of its 95 music fellows, Ian Donovan (pictured), grew up in West University. He is a double bass player who graduated from The High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and is now a music major at Baylor University. Ian is following in the footsteps of his older brother, Sean, who also earned a coveted spot in the Texas Music Festival five years ago. Sean also plays double bass, and graduated from HSPVA and Baylor University with a music degree and then this year magna cum laude from UH with a second degree in computer science. Ian and Sean’s youngest brother, Eoin, is carrying the torch – he plays double bass and is now at HSPVA too.
