Charlotte Ehlers, a 2018 graduate of Bellaire High School, made a “Little Free Library,” a small compartment that holds books to borrow and donate to. Charlotte said, “I found my love of reading [at] Horn Elementary School – I’m a “Name That Book” district champion – so I decided to make a Little Free Library for [Horn].” She had a goal in mind of making books more available to not only all the Horn Elementary students, but also to anyone in the neighborhood. “Most of the library was constructed out of recycled materials … the roof was made from aluminum cans, the siding was reclaimed from a flooded Bellaire house that was going to be torn down, and the wood was salvaged from several construction sites around Bellaire,” said Charlotte. Read more about Little Free Libraries in Buzz neighborhoods here.
