Happy Friday! Fall has arrived (if not in the temperatures, in the events that are happening around town). Here are some fun fall happenings this weekend:
Galveston Island Wild Texas Shrimp Festival
Galveston Island is hosting a shrimp festival Friday-Sunday at Saengerfest Park including a seafood cook-off, gumbo tasting, L’il Shrimps Parade, live music, a children’s area and a Strand merchant walkabout.
Karbachtoberfest
Oktoberfest is underway at the Karbach Brewery, which hosts a three-week celebration with live music, beer and food. This weekend, Los Skarnales plays on Friday and Misterwives on Saturday. Biergarten festivities start at 5 p.m. each night Thursday-Saturday & 12 p.m. on Sunday.
Texas Renaissance Festival
The 44th annual Texas Renaissance Festival opens this weekend! The festival is open on Saturdays, Sundays and Thanksgiving Friday. Get in the Renaissance spirit, enjoy food, games, performances, themed weekends and more.
Oktoberfest
Another opportunity to Oktoberfest: Head to the Water Works at Buffalo Bayou on Saturday for live music, contests, games, beer, food and more.
Badge & Bases H-Town Run Down
Run for a great cause at Minute Maid Park on Saturday. The family-friendly event will benefit The Astros Foundation and Houston Police Foundation. Each race participant will receive a Commemorative Badges & Bases t-shirt and have the opportunity to take a photo at home plate inside the ballpark.

moonGarden
moonGarden, the newest art installation at Discovery Green, opens this Saturday. A series of 22 illuminated spheres will transform the area into a magical, interactive moonscape. This is the largest ever created by Lucion Traveling Light of Montreal. The free exhibit is visible during all park hours and activated nightly 6 p.m.-12 a.m. Opening night activities on Saturday include: Cirque la Vie and other performances throughout the park, a screening of Moonstruck (1988, PG, 102 min.) and more.
