Recently, the Memorial Girls Varsity Cross Country team qualified for the Texas UIL 6A State Meet. After placing third at regionals, the girls continued to put in the early mornings and the miles in hopes of a successful state meet.
Sophomore Varsity runner Chandler Gartner said “[although] we had some injuries during the season, we kept our moral up and knew that to make it to state we had to persevere.” All of the dedication and perseverance paid off when the girls placed 14th. Chandler recalls “working hard every day and pushing through the pain” but says, “it was definitely worth it in the end!”
This was a huge accomplishment for the team, which was lead by captains Fiona Bremner, Anjali Patel and Makenna Dahmer and coached by Vicki Bevan. A huge congratulations to the Memorial Girls Varsity Cross Country team on a successful season and best wishes to the seniors on their future endeavors!
