Pay it forward
Last year, Oceanside Middle School in Maine raised money for Cornerstone Academy students affected by Hurricane Harvey and showed kindness through letter-writing. This fall, the Cornerstone community paid the kindness forward by raising money to help Grant Elementary School in Redding, Calif., which had nearly 40 families lose their homes to the Carr Fire. Cornerstone’s goal with Car4Carr was to fill a VW Bug Art Car with as much money as possible for those families. Within just two weeks, the school raised $5,364 and planned to keep the fundraising going throughout the year. Pictured are (from left) Sonya Stelmak, Madeline Chadwick, Alicia Andrews, Kaitlynn Hicks, Vicky Medina, Courtney Buck, Bailey Reoh and Asher Rigo with the art car. See gofundme.com/car4carr.
