Education for all
More than 400 guests attended Breakthrough Houston’s Expanding Our Horizons luncheon at St. John’s School to celebrate the organization’s collaboration with Houston ISD and Connect Community. Scott McClelland, president of H-E-B and an education advocate, delivered the keynote address. The event was co-chaired by Sarah and Brooks Shughart, Sue and Randy Sim (pictured) and Alicia and Matthew Summers. Breakthrough Houston prepares students with high academic potential, but limited educational resources, for competitive high schools and college admission. Through its “students-teaching-students” model, Breakthrough also trains college and high school students for careers in education.
