Event Roundup: What to Look Forward to This Weekend
Happy Friday! We’ve rounded up some fun events happening around town this weekend!
March Madness Watch Party
Support the University of Houston Cougars on their March Madness run! The team plays against Georgia State on Friday night in the first round of the NCAA tournament. If you can’t make it to Tulsa to watch the game live, you can still cheer on the team at KHOU’s March Madness Watch Party at Avenida Houston. The fun starts at 5pm and includes special appearances by the UH Cheerleaders and dance team, the UH mascot Sasha and the UH marching band.
Rockets vs. Spurs
Cheer on the Houston Rockets as they take on their Texas Rival, the San Antonio Spurs at Toyota Center on Friday night! Both teams are slated to make it into the playoffs this season – the Rockets are third in the Western Conference while the Spurs are at number five.
Five Funny French Films
Join the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston for the ninth annual edition of Five Funny French Films. The event kicks off Friday evening with a showing of Tout le monde debout (Rolling to You), where Franck Dubosc stars as a successful, self-absorbed businessman who tries to seduce an attractive woman by pretending he is handicapped. His plan backfires when she introduces him to her sister, who uses a wheelchair. The other four films are: Le retour du héros (Return of the Hero), En liberté! (The Trouble with You), Larguées (Dumped) and La femme du boulanger (The Baker’s Wife).
Family Day in the Park
Enjoy a few hours of outdoor time this Saturday at Family Fun Day in the Park, presented by Texas Children’s Hospital. The event is held at Evelyn’s Park Conservancy and will feature bounce houses, carnival games, music and of course food! The event is free and open to all ages!
Sounds of Scotland
See some of the world’s best bagpipers, drummers and dancers take the stage for Sounds of Scotland. This performance offers a rare and extraordinary glimpse into the best of Scottish music and dance. Proceeds from the show will go to benefit the Saint Thomas’ Episcopal School Scottish Arts program, making this a wonderful way to celebrate Scottish music and dance while supporting a great cause.
Wine and Tapas
Sip on wine and dine on tapas at the 11th annual Bellaire Parks Wine and Tapas, “Boots and Bling” community event this Saturday evening. This annual fundraiser is held on The Great Lawn at Bellaire Town Square, and it raises money for parks and green spaces in the Bellaire area.
