Seventy-four young athletes participated in the fourth annual Justin’s TRIumph Over GAN Splash & Dash sponsored by Reliant, held at the Evelyn Rubenstein JCC this year. The event originated as an Eagle Scout project for Bellaire High School senior Jared Clark to raise money for Hannah’s Hope Fund and has continued every year ever since. The nonprofit is working to find a cure for the fatal genetic disorder giant axonal neuropathy (GAN). Jared’s twin brother, Justin, and younger sister Lexi both have GAN. During the event, 11-year-old Ariana Colunga French’s cerebral palsy didn’t stop her from completing the run and swim and earning her medal. Ariana is pictured with her mother, Audra French, as Ariana prepares to compete. The event was the first multi-sport race for 6 year-old twins Michael and Angelina Sorena. Michael placed first, and Angelina placed fifth. The event raised $16,000.
