From campers to couple
Rachel Navon and Jonathan Kleinman first met back in 2002 at Camp Young Judea (CYJ) in Wimberley. They remained friends throughout the years of bar/bat mitzvahs, camp and The Emery/Weiner School. They hit it off when they returned to CYJ in the summer of 2011 as counselors and started dating the first weekend of college at The University of Texas at Austin and have been together since. Jonathan told Rachel his company was hosting a fundraiser at the Austin Public Library, and then he proposed outside of the library at the Butterfly Bridge, which they now pass almost every day during their morning walk with their puppy, Murray. After the proposal, Rachel and Jonathan’s families – parents Yosi and Tali Navon and brothers Liel and Aviv, and parents Ellen and Michael Kleinman and sisters Alyssa and Mackenzie – were waiting at their favorite restaurant for a celebratory dinner. After that, Jonathan surprised Rachel again with an engagement party with 50 friends who came in from all over the country to celebrate. They’re tying the knot in May 2020 in Houston.
