Emma Callahan, Sophia Atkins, Julia Yanosik and Sophie Kalmin have fun at the ropes course on Saturday night.
The sophomore class takes a weekend Shabbaton to Greene Family camp to celebrate Shabbat. During those three days, the students got to swim in the lake, make friendship bracelets, zipline, and learn about their new teachers and classmates. During the Shabbat ceremony, everyone came together and sang songs to commemorate this special night of the week.
Sophomore year is very pivotal in terms of workload and transitioning into more mature students. We really took this time to reflect on what would come for the year, bonding together more as a class. Many students spent their free time in the camp’s gymnastics room, learning how to do flips and stunts.
"I remember staying in the gym for hours learning how to do a cartwheel," Sophie Kalmin explained.
The last night everyone came together for one last time and sat by the fire reflecting on the weekend. We shared funny stories and our favorite parts of the Shabbaton, as we roasted and ate s’ mores. The campfire felt like the final part of our grade-wide bonding time as the Shabbaton came to a close.
