Event Roundup: What to Look Forward to This Weekend
Happy Friday! There’s so much happening this weekend as many fall festivals kick into gear.
Astros Postseason Games 1 and 2
After winning a franchise-record 107 games during the regular season, our very own ‘Stros are headed into the postseason this weekend as the number one seed in the American League. Tune in for games one and two against the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday and Saturday – both at home. Ticket holders also have access to special Street Festivals happening at Minute Maid Park prior to First Pitch.
Saint Arnold Classic Oktoberfest Party
Put on your best dirndl, lederhosen or other Tyrolean duds for Saint Arnold's Classic Oktoberfest Party on Friday night in the German-style Beer Hall. Enjoy a special German dinner and Saint Arnold Beer and be sure to dress to impress as there will be a contest to reward the best dressed.
Garden Club of Houston Bulb & Plant Mart
Stop by the Church of St. John the Divine this weekend to find a range of top-quality bulbs, such as Amaryllis, Anemones, Crocuses, Daffodils, Freesias, Hyacinths, Irises, Ranunculi, and varieties of Tulips and Watsonias. You can also check out the live butterfly tent from Houston Museum of Natural Science and the Conservation Booth, which will feature a variety of native and drought tolerant plants.
Original Greek Festival
Opa! It’s time for the 53rd annual Houston Greek Festival, happening all weekend long. Enjoy live music, dancing, cathedral tours and of course, plenty of Souvlaki and Baklava!
Austin City Limits Music Festival
It’s a weekend of non-stop music at Zilker Park in Austin, where all types of music lovers will descend for Weekend 1 of Austin City Limits, a multi-day annual music festival. A diverse lineup of acts ranging from Guns N’ Roses to Childish Gambino will be performing over the three-day festival that spans eight stages and more than 125 performances over two weekends. The festival is almost sold out, but many third-party sellers are still looking for buyers! Houston ScreamFest
Get into the Halloween spirit at ScreamFest, a month-long festival that kicks off on Friday. Get the fright scared out of you in the haunted house, enjoy live music, watch horror films on the big screen and play carnival games.
Komen Houston Race for the Cure
It’s not too late to register for the 29th annual Komen Houston Race for the Cure, happening Saturday morning. The race helps spread the lifesaving message of early detection and raises funds to help end breast cancer.
Walk and Roll for Spinal Cord Injuries
Support spinal cord injury patients through this fundraising event at 8th Wonder Brewery on Saturday morning. Proceeds from the event go towards providing active gear and assistive technology equipment to spinal cord injury patients at The Institute for Rehabilitation and Research at Memorial Hermann.
Korean Festival
Visit Discovery Green on Saturday for a taste of Korean culture at the 10th annual Korean Festival. Enjoy Korean food, traditional and modern performances, crafts and games at this free event.
Houston Margarita Festival
If you love Margaritas, you won’t want to miss this festival where you can sample 19 different flavors of margaritas ranging from green apple to pumpkin spice. This event is $21+ only, and it also includes live music, salsa dancing and food.
Texas Renaissance Festival
The Texas Renaissance Festival, which runs through Dec. 1, kicks off this Saturday with an Oktoberfest theme. Join in the fun by taking part in the costume contest or the bratwurst eating contest.
