Happy Lunar New Year! There are lots of fun happenings this weekend. Here are a few we’ve rounded up:
Lunar New Year WonderWeek
Celebrate the Lunar New Year at the Children’s Museum. Family-friendly activities will continue through Weds., Jan. 29 and include educational, hands-on arts and crafts, festive entertainment and more.
Chinese Community Center’s Lunar New Year Festival
Ring in the Year of the Rat at the Chinese Community Center’s annual Lunar New Year Festival on Saturday starting at 10 a.m.. Located in Chinatown, this free and family-friendly festival features Dragon and Lion dances as well as local artists, businesses, food vendors, games and cultural performances.
Texas Lunar Festival
The 24th Annual Texas Lunar New Year Celebration will take place on Saturday starting at 9 a.m. in front of the Southern News Group Building. Celebrate the Year of the Rat with performances, entertainment and delicious food spanning all cultures.
The Asia Society's Family Day: Lunar New Year
Join The Asia Society in welcoming the Year of the Rat on Saturday starting at 11 a.m. with performances, art and craft activities, food inspired by Lunar New Year traditions across Asia and fun, family-friendly activities. In addition, The Asia Society will provide special Lunar New Year festivities at The Galleria on Sunday, 12-5 p.m. as well as Feb. 1-2.
Lunar New Year at 8th Wonder Brewery
Ring in the Lunar New Year at 8th Wonder with HTX Market starting at 11 a.m. Celebrate with performances/demos, family-friendly activities, food trucks/vendors and artisans with handcrafted items.
Houston Dynamo Fan Fest 2020
The Houston Dynamo will host their annual, free Fan Fest at BBVA Stadium on Saturday starting at 12 p.m. There will be exclusive Dynamo experiences as preparation for the 2020 season opener vs. LA Galaxy on Feb. 29.
Winter Festival: Celebrating Lunar New Year
Celebrate the Lunar New Year at the MFAH. The free winter festival on Saturday starting at 2 p.m. features music, art activities, games, and more for all ages.
Patrons for Bellaire Parks' Martini Party
Patrons for Bellaire Parks hosts the annual Martini Party on Saturday evening starting at 7 p.m. This annual cocktail party serves as a prelude to the Wine and Tapas Gala, which takes place Sat., March 28. This year's martini party will be held in Bellaire and feature cocktails, wine, beer as well as an array of bites to enjoy. Proceeds from ticket prices for the Martini Party will be used to stock the Cork Pull for Wine and Tapas.
Galveston Restaurant Week
The ninth annual Galveston Restaurant Week kicks off on Saturday and continues through Feb. 9. Explore Galveston’s dining scene; choose a prix-fixe lunch, brunch/breakfast and/or dinner from participating restaurants. Proceeds go toward helping Access Care of Coastal Texas provide weekly lunches to their clients. In addition, Galveston Museum Day takes place this Saturday and Sunday; explore Galveston’s rich history for free.
