Event Roundup: What to Look Forward to This Weekend

Watch top ice-sculpting artists from across the country creating incredible works of art – out of ice – at the Houston Ice Festival on Saturday at Saint Arnold Brewing Co. 

Happy Friday (and happy Super Bowl weekend!). Here are some fun happenings this weekend:

The Ice at Discovery Green  
If you haven’t had the chance to glide around The Ice at Discovery Green, this weekend is your last chance. Skate to the beat of DJ Mohawk Steve on Friday (Funfetti Friday), spot storybook stars on Saturday (this Saturday will be Black Panther) and see top figure skaters take to the rink on Sunday. 

Asia Society’s Lunar New Year at The Galleria  
Celebrate the Year of the Rat with special Lunar New Year festivities at The Galleria on Saturday and Sunday. 

Hot Chocolate 15k/5k  
Warm up with the Allstate Hot Chocolate 15k/5k on Saturday at Sam Houston Park benefiting Make-A-Wish. This sweet race features both a 15k and 5k plus a sweet post-race party with music, hot chocolate, chocolate fondue and more.  

3rd Annual Puppy Bowl
Dogwood Houston presents the third annual Puppy Bowl on Saturday featuring adorable, adoptable pups from Houston Pets Alive. Dogwood is accepting donations in exchange for drink specials.

Lunar New Year Houston
Celebrate the new year at Viet Hoa Center on Saturday and Sunday with a range of performances and entertainment including lion dances, music, red envelope ceremonies and more. 

Houston Ice Festival  
Watch top ice-sculpting artists from across the country creating incredible works of art – out of ice – at the Houston Ice Festival on Saturday at Saint Arnold Brewing Co. There will also be local artists of different mediums showcasing their work, street painting, arts and crafts activities, a DJ, dance performances and a kids creative corner. 

Super Bowl Sunday
Super Bowl LIV – San Francisco 49ers vs. Kansas City  Chiefs - takes place on Sunday with kickoff at 5:30 p.m. See ways to watch here and if you’re looking for where to watch around town, see our roundup here.
