Movie madness
When NCAA basketball was cancelled and the start of baseball season was postponed due to coronavirus, sports enthusiast Nicky Mintz (pictured, in the middle) was disappointed. So, Nicky, a graduate student in the University of Houston’s sport and fitness administration program, decided to keep a bracket alive – where friends voted to determine “The Funniest Movie of All Time.” He lives with two of his brothers, Andrew (left) and Emery (right), and recalled a conversation about the top 10 funniest movies. He used it as a starting point, and then he posted matchups on his Instagram story each day, tallying the votes. Ultimately, the funniest movie was determined to be Superbad (2007). Friends asked him to create more brackets in different genres. For more, see “Movie Bracketology: March Madness Goes to the Movies” by Jennifer Oakley.
