Congrats, Mariachi Class of 2020 at Kinder HSPVA
As school drew to an end, I sat at my desk, completely feeling sorry for myself. My road-to-college checklist has been altered by my SAT date canceling in two weeks. Because of COVID-19, I have lost out on the opportunity to take the SAT twice. While some universities are being completely unforgiving and demanding test scores, I also want the chance to do well if I could get a test date in the future.
I am officially a new senior; I have no idea how my world will look six months from now. Even though I am trying to be optimistic about some control over the COVID-19 virus, I can only feel for our current seniors, the class of 2020, and hope the best for them. What is excellent about our mariachi department at Kinder PVA is that we have parents who care and wanted to celebrate the class of 2020 by honoring them with a car parade over the weekend.
Esmeralda Tamayo, mariachi director Antonio Roca, along with other parents and students decorated cars and handed out goodie bags. I will miss the friendships, I will miss looking over to my left and seeing Angela Lasso playing next to me on violin, and most of all, our concerts that we never finished due to our year being cut short.
So, good luck class 2020, your new chapter is just beginning. I hope to see you in the crowd amongst the alumni at future concerts at PVA, and for Angela, my favorite mariachi senior, you have been like a big sister to me, and I am so grateful to have you in my life.
