Crafting for a cause
Beatrice Graubart (pictured, on right), who graduates from Emery/Weiner this spring, and her older sister Isabel Graubart (on left) have been making beaded bracelets that spell out phrases like “stay home” or “6 feet apart” and donating the proceeds to various causes. In addition, Beatrice sews face masks using a sewing machine she discovered in her attic – she watched YouTube videos, taught herself how to sew and has been donating the masks. She also makes hand sanitizer out of aloe vera and essential oils for her grandparents and their friends. In addition, she helped put together more than 200 baskets of school supplies and gift certificates for low-income children through Families Empowered.
