Duck Billed Platypuses

The West University Softball Association (WUSA) Tigers didn’t let the canceled season keep them from grabbing their bats and gloves to play. Coach Jake Sabat held weekly practices via Zoom, and added players from other teams to form a large online group. The newly formed “team” named themselves the Duck Billed Platypuses (pictured) and committed to working on their skills while stuck at home. Along with coach Danny Hughes, Sabat facilitated practices that included fitness exercises, throwing and fielding drills, and a fielding game. The Duck Billed Platypuses are (top row, from left) Claire Bonura, Maddie Sabat, Kaylee Chung, Faith and Eve Puzon; (second row, from left) Caroline Van Buren, CC Jorgensen, Ashna Bhagia, Eloise Carey; (third row, from left) Mia Pliskin, Charlotte Dillon, Vivian Foreman, Philippa McCord; (bottom row, from left) Lily and Emma Hughes and Ana Choi.
