Miss South Texas Princess
Mia Zhong (pictured) was crowned 2020 National American Miss South Texas Princess at the Royal Sonesta Hotel – an especially sweet moment since it was also her seventh birthday. Mia is a first grader at St. John’s School. Her community project is to celebrate underserved kids' birthdays with The Birthday Party Project and make cards for frontline workers with the Asian American Youth Giving Circle. Mia won a $1,000 scholarship and airfare to Orlando, where she will compete for the national title during Thanksgiving week. The pageant will include a day at Disney World. Parents Shaobo Du and Shan Zhong look forward to cheering on Mia from Orlando along with Mia’s older brother, Simon Zhong, while her grandparents plan to root for her virtually.
