The 22nd Annual Laura Lee Blanton Community Spirit Award Dinner was attended by 80 masked guests at River Oaks Country Club and more than 200 who gathered virtually. The evening raised more than $225,000 to support the Houston Hospice Program. Chairs were Elizabeth and Peter Wareing, and the recipient of the Laura Lee Blanton Community Spirit Award – named in honor of Elizabeth’s mother – was The Garden Club of Houston. The crystal award was accepted by Julie Griffin, president of the board of the Garden Club. Author Elin Hilderbrand Zoomed in live from Nantucket for an interview with emcee Lisa Malosky. Hilderbrand volunteers at the Hospice in Nantucket, and her latest book, 28 Summers, reflects on end-of-life decisions.
