Katherine Richards and RD Sedillo

Katherine Richards, horse Ice Man, and trainer RD Sedillo (pictured, from left) were decked out in holiday attire to ride at Reining Strength Therapeutic Horsemanship. The riding program provides therapeutic horsemanship for children and adults with physical, cognitive, social, and emotional needs. Ice Man’s jingle bells were a hit and sounded like sleigh bells as the horse cantered around the ring. Katherine has been riding horses for 15 years and competes internationally. She began competing with Special Olympics at the area and state levels, and now competes as a member of Virtus, a worldwide program for elite athletes with intellectual disabilities, the National Snaffle Bit Association, and the American Quarter Horse Association. She is also a member of a United States equestrian team and was ranked seventh in dressage last year by a team of three internationally recognized judges.

Editor’s note: The Buzz congratulates our regular Buzz About Town writer, associate editor Jordan Steinfeld, and her husband Matthew on the recent arrival of baby Sloane. Jordan is taking a short break to spend time with Sloane. In the meantime, Buzz writer Angie Frederickson is handling this column.
