Happy Friday! Check out these exciting events happening this weekend.
“Portal of Healing” Exhibit
This site-specific installation at Rice University’s Fondren Library features pieces by the Filipina American visual artist Rachel Gonzales. The installation is an expansive, immersive work commemorating the losses of 2020. Inscribed throughout the exhibit are Asian American community members’ words and poetry of healing. The exhibition runs through March 31 and is available for public viewing in-person (through an online reservation) or online.
Galveston Restaurant Week
Galveston’s 10th annual Restaurant Week (which actually runs for four weeks) is under way! At participating restaurants, two and/or three-course dinners are priced between $20 and $45, and two-course lunches, breakfasts and brunches are priced between $10 and $20. Reservations are recommended.
Urban Harvest Farmers Market
This Farmers Market takes place every Saturday morning and features more than 70 Houston vendors. Drive-thru service is also available for online pre-orders. For more on Houston’s Farmer’s Markets, check out this story that appeared in our most recent issue of The Buzz Magazines.
San Antonio Spurs v. Houston Rockets
Watch the Houston Rockets take on the San Antonio Spurs at Toyota Center on Saturday night. Toyota Center has reduced its capacity to allow for proper distancing between guests, and face masks are required at all times. All ticketed fans are also required to answer a series of health questions before entering the arena.
Super Bowl Sunday
Reminder that this Sunday is the Super Bowl! The game takes place in Tampa Bay between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Performing at halftime is The Weeknd, a pop artist with three number one selling albums to his name.
The Singing Trees at CITYCENTRE
See CITYCENTRE sparkle with the new Singing Trees! Head over to the courtyard between Fellini Cafe and Paper Source to see the trees dazzle in reaction to sound. Watch the night sky sparkle as you clap and sing along.
