Lainie Stone and Lauren Koong

Lamar juniors Lauren Koong, editor-in-chief of Lamar’s student-run news publication Lamar Life, and Lainie Stone, assistant editor of Lamar Life, advanced to regionals for University Interscholastic League (UIL) Journalism after a successful district meet. At regionals, Lauren received second in Headline Writing and third in Editorial Writing, and advanced to state. Lainie accompanied Lauren to the state competition for moral support, along with journalism advisor Kadee Harper, and they were all thrilled when Lauren placed first in Editorial Writing at state.
