It’s that time of year again. Finals week. However, the year 11 students this year are in for a different approach than previous years. With the cancellations of the IGCSE exams, the current exams being held are organized by the school. This internal examination method ensures that students have adequate evidence to show for their individual grades.
The spirits were high in the revision rooms while the students look forward to the last weeks of school after these examinations. An end of year assembly, IB taster lessons, college counselling week and prom is what awaits these students after their two years of hard work and perseverance.
The IGCSE art students already completed a 10-hour art exam before the written exams began. The skillful culmination of different medias, such as oil paints, gouache and pastels resulted in a wide variety of pieces that showcase their talent, dedication and enthusiasm towards the subject.
“The art exam was different from any of the others, but despite its challenges it was a fun experience. It was our first time doing the exam because our mock was cancelled due to schedule readjustment, so it was daunting at first. But we were listening to our favorite music the whole time and we were allowed to have snacks, so the experience was really enjoyable!” says Christina M., an IGCSE art student.
The format of these exams give the students the authentic external exam experience – with a specific timetable allocated to each student and the requirement of only coming to school when one has an exam.
After the completion of all their exams, the Year 11 students await results that will be sent in this August, officially concluding the IGCSE certification. So, while these last two years have been filled with ups and downs, the commitment and dedication of these students is what has allowed them to complete their course and end this school year on a high note.
