Journey to the 'Ship: Bellaire 10U Cardinals are State Champs!
The Bellaire Little League 10U Cardinals are state champions! On July 8, they beat Pearland Little League to claim the title as the best 10-year-old team in the region. Then, they headed to Tyler, TX for the state championship tournament. On July 17, the Cardinals crushed Washington County 19-4. But then they lost to Needville on Sunday, putting them in the elimination bracket. Their next game against Bridge City was rained out on July 19 and delayed a day. But the 10U team never lost momentum. After beating Bridge City, they played Needville again. This time, they didn’t let up. By beating Needville in two games back-to-back, they secured the championship title. Congratulations, Cardinals!
After their win, players dumped water on their coaches, took lots of photos under the scoreboard, and then got in the car to drive back to Bellaire. Tonight, the team will celebrate their victory with a pizza party on Jessamine field.
The state championship is as far as the 10U level plays, but this team will have another chance at the road to the Little League World Series when they turn 12. Way to go, Bellaire! And we can’t wait to see what you accomplish.
