Four Troop 599 Scouts from Memorial Drive United Methodist Church have achieved the highest rank in Boy Scouts. The new Eagle Scouts (pictured, from left) are Mike Mohr, Ian Burnett, Rhett Cossey, and Charlie White. Mike graduated from Memorial High School and is heading to University of Colorado Boulder. For his Eagle project, he built, installed, and stocked two Little Libraries, which are located in the Fonn Villas subdivision and serve the residents of the neighborhood as well as visitors of Bendwood Park. Ian graduated from Houston Christian High School and is continuing his education at the University of Houston. For his Eagle project, Ian upgraded his high school's football stadium concession stand by installing and painting cabinets for additional storage space and cleaning/re-organizing the entire area. Rhett graduated from Stratford High School and is heading to Texas A&M. His Eagle project included the installation of shelving units to store PPE supplies at The Monarch School. Charlie, also a graduate of Stratford High School, is attending the Aviation Institute of Maintenance. His Eagle project benefits the Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary, part of the Houston Audubon Society. The Sanctuary was in need of composting bins and a structure to contain them, along with tools. Charlie built the structure and engineered the bins to turn on their own using a car battery, solar panels, a game timer, and a garage door motor.
