The Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation teamed up with The Dr. Seuss Experience to share a week-long immersion into the world of Dr. Seuss with 100 elementary-school students. Members of the Foundation’s Ladies for Literacy Guild read aloud with students from Treasure Forest and Hollibrook elementary schools in Spring Branch ISD who attended summer programs at Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston. Students met the Foundation’s Curiosity Cruiser mobile library mascots, Owlbotron and Northtale. The mascots participated in a moderated discussion with Dr. Julie Baker Finck, foundation president and CEO, about the importance of reading. Students met the Cat in the Hat and received a copy of The Cat in the Hat as well as tickets to The Dr. Seuss Experience, which took place at the George R. Brown Convention Center.
