Local artist featured at BPD
In 2019, the Bellaire Police Department partnered with the Bellaire Culture and Arts Board to showcase local artists by bringing art into public spaces. A space in the Bellaire Police Department lobby was designated as a place to feature art. The goal was to display a new piece every six weeks, highlighting a different artist, style, or genre. Currently, this work by Hina Chaudhry entitled “Bismillah” (Arabic: in the name of God) is showcased in the lobby; it’s on loan from the artist through mid-October. Pictured are (from left) Officer Chase Liccketto, Bellaire Police Chief Mo Lopez, artist Hina Chaudhry, and Mona Sharique. Hina is an artist with the Islamic Arts Society. This project is a collaboration between the Muslims of Bellaire & Nearby Neighborhoods and the City of Bellaire.
