Editor's Note - December 2021

Where will this holiday season lead you? Are you going bold and bright or simple and calm? I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I am all for Team Simple and Calm this year. This Halloween, for the first time, we were that house – we left a bowl of candy and vanished. (We abandoned trick-or-treaters to watch the Astros play in the World Series at a sports bar. Maybe we should have stayed home.) To avoid becoming the neighborhood Grinch, I’m fantasizing about baking beautiful holiday cookies or taking on the sweet tradition of leaving a boot with goodies for the little ones, just like the impressive and creative neighbors featured this month. But my kitchen is closed, my closet is a mess, and I can’t find my boots. Luckily, my sweatpants are handy.
